History
Back in the day in the 1940s, Parklands was a highly congested neighbourhood with houses which were set aside for civil servants by the British people. Later on in the year 2000, it became a mixed suburb with residential and commercial properties. The majority of people who live in Parklands come from Asian descent.

There are 3 major universities in Parklands, each offering specialized curriculums. They include University of Nairobi School of Law, Aga Khan University School of Nursing & Midwifery and Kenyatta University Parklands Campus School of Law.
Healthcare
Parklands has one of the largest hospitals in Nairobi, The Aga Khan University Hospital. Other hospitals in the area include Avenue Hospital, M.P. Shah and The Brain, Spine and Rehabilitation (BSR) Hospital.
